When it comes to buying pillows how
do you know which ones are the best to buy in terms of quality and
value? There’s nothing more frustrating than when you’re a first
time buyer and you haven’t a clue what to look for. Well here’s a
few pointers on what to look for…
The height of the pillow:
Have you ever noticed that the human neck curves slightly forward?
This is a normal curvature of the spine, and it’s exactly how it
should look when it’s in a resting position. This is why it’s
important to have a pillow that molds nicely to compensate the neck
curvature, and give you support whilst you sleep. If the pillow is
too thin or too thick you can strain your neck, leading to aches and
pains the following day. The height of the pillow should be as such
that it supports both the head and the neck.
Comfort:
Pillows come with a range of different stuffing such as polyester,
microfibres, duck and goose feathers etc. so each individual can
choose something tailored to their needs.
Adaptable:
Depending on what the pillow is stuffed with it should adapt your
body as your lay your head into it.
Your preferred sleeping position:
If you enjoy sleeping on your back then the pillow needs to support
the curvature of the cervical spine. If you prefer sleeping on your
side then the pillow should support your head and your neck, and if
you can only sleep on your front then the pillow needs be flat.
